Evaluation of Low – Profile Attachments for Implant – Retained Mandibular Overdentures in Restoring Cases with Limited Interarch Space
نویسنده
چکیده
. AbstrAct The aim of the present study was to evaluate both ZAAG and OT REVERSE / 3 attachments retaining complete mandibular overdentures supported by two Legacy implants regarding both periimplant bone and residual ridge resorpotion and maintenance complications in patients with limited interarch space during a 2 year followup period. The two implants were placed in the canine region. Mandibular overdentures were provided for 12 edentulous male patients. Subjects were divided equally into ZAAG and OT REVERSE / 3 groups. Once patients were comfortable, they were placed on a one week, 6, 12 and 24 months follow -up periods. Marginal periimplant bone levels and distal residual ridge height were monitored on intraoral radiographs using long cone paralleling technique. Frequency of maintenance complications were also detected during the follow-up periods. A significant decrease in periimplant bone loss was recorded in favor to the OT REVERSE / 3 group. However a significant decrease in vertical residual bone loss was recorded in favor to the ZAAG group. It could be concluded that although mandibular implant–retained overdentures with OT REVERSE /3 attachments are an acceptable treatment option for edentulous patients with limited interarch space, routine maintenance is required to ensure successful long term outcomes.

A prosthetic solution to restoring the edentulous mandible with limited interarch space using an implant-tissue-supported overdenture: a clinical report.
An implant-retained overdenture retained with 2 implants placed in the anterior edentulous mandible is a simple and predictable treatment option. The fabrication and use of this prosthesis requires satisfactory interarch space for adequate denture base thickness and esthetics. This clinical report describes the use of low-profile attachments for this overdenture design to solve the problem of l...

BACKGROUND This study was aimed to evaluate complete mandibular overdentures retained by a symphyseal single implant using ball and magnet attachments in both clinical and radiographic evaluation. MATERIALS AND METHODS Ten dental press fit titanium implants were installed in the lower jaws of completely edentulous patients according to two-stage surgical protocol. For each patient, one implan...

Objectives: The present study evaluated the effect of bar and ball attachment designs on retention and stability of a mandibular overdenture supported by four implants. Methods: An edentulous mandibular acrylic resin model with four implants in the anterior part of the ridge (A, B, D and E) was fabricated. A metal framework simulating the overdenture was also fabricated. Totally, 30...
